Idols.
We all have them. Whenever Jesus is not central in your life, you have turned to an idol.
I wanted to get in touch with you all and let you know where things are up to with the Project Church and the current COVID-19 pandemic. The staff of the Project Church met yesterday for three hours to hammer out a way forward through this trouble. We began by looking at 2 Chronicles 20:1-13
All of us are affected by evil and suffering. It is a thorny issue, both philosophically and experientially.
There is more going on than we think. When it comes to Jesus, there is always more going on than we people think.
LAW. This little word can stir a lot of emotion. Most of the guys that came through the rehab where I worked had seen a judge or the back seat of a police car. Many saw 'the law' as a personal enemy, a conspiracy, a system set up specifically to restrict their fun and freedom.
Pride can send people insane. Have you ever watched a proud person and wondered why they do the things they do? Often they make some of the dumbest decisions, which seem so out of touch with reality that you wonder what drug they are on.
Change requires courage – not the courage to work harder or try more, although that certainly comes into it. The courage I am talking about is the courage to have an honest look at your own heart.
Society constantly bombards us with messages telling us to get what we ‘deserve’. We reinforce it by saying, ‘That’s not fair. You deserve better than that.’
But what do we really deserve?
Each of us have our weaknesses, and we can get stuck in our own darkness at times. Sometimes it seems as if the darkness is going to win... as if light will be overcome by it. But our hope is a tender-hearted Saviour, a Shepherd to us sheep, who oftentimes stray, get stuck and need rescuing.
We live in a world that is immersed in news. Everyday a continuous stream of tragic stories is delivered to consumers all around the world.
Think about the fact that you don't matter that much. That you are insignificant. Watch more.
Everyone wants to be loved - especially when we feel most unlovely. As a counsellor, I regularly sit with people and hear the longing of their heart to be loved. Most of us wonder whether anyone could love us if we let them see the real us.
It’s good to know things. As the old maxim goes, ignorance is not an excuse. If you’re caught for going eighty in a sixty zone, not knowing the limit does not excuse your actions. You’re culpable regardless.

Shame made its first appearance in the garden of Eden after Adam and Eve first disobeyed God, and ever since then has been a common reality touching all of humanity.
If we want to understand our fears and anxieties we need to stop long enough to listen to what they are saying to us. Once we understand what they are saying to us we will then be ready to hear what Jesus says to our fears.
Peter explains the underlying mechanism that lies behind almost all conflict: we want something, the desire for it begins ruling our hearts and we fight each other to get it.
Conflict is everywhere. Everyday we see it, hear it and engage with it. Peter has a close look at conflict and evaluates the belief systems behind the strategies we employ to handle it.
